July is upon us, and that means summer is officially here, and it is a hot one this year! I love summer. It is this fantastic opportunity to get outside and enjoy this amazing home we call Earth.
Whether your idea of summer fun is tubing behind a boat, going for a full day hike, gardening, or something there in between, it is important to remember that caring for yourself will allow you to enjoy your activities to the full, and avoid injury and down time that can cramp your style this summer.
Here is a quick list of things you can do to make this summer your best one yet.
1. Keep on Keeping on. If you’ve been coming to a class, seeing Dr. Rikki for chiropractic care, or getting massaged on regular intervals, now is not the time to let that fall by the way side. When we maintain our wellness, we stay well and more often than not, avoid injuries that can be a real damper on our summer.
2. Put down your devices. We are in Saskatchewan, summer is the rainbow of our year. It is here for only a few short months and then it is gone. Get out and enjoy it! Your mind and your body will thank you.
3. Stretch. During the summer months, many people are getting back into an activity they really haven’t spent much time doing over the winter. If this sounds like you, you may want to make sure you’re warming up and stretching effectively to avoid injury.
4. Drink Water. Sure, as a massage therapist I say that all the time, but this time I REALLY mean it. Stay hydrated out there, this heat can be serious if you don’t.
