We are gearing up for another year of Pilates in Paradise with Lead. Let’s ditch the Saskatoon winter and take our Pilates movement to the sands of Mayan Riviera! Want to join us? Read Michelle’s (one of our attendees) recap below then get the nitty gritty details here.
Last year I walked past a poster in the studio that announced the upcoming 2015 “Pilates in Paradise” retreat. I thought to myself, ‘wow, the people that get to go on that are so lucky.’ Each time the Pilates Retreat was announced in the classes I had that same thought, ‘lucky people’. Then, one day, in a blink of an eye, a thought emerged, ‘I want to go.’ With excitement, I took the first step toward making this adventure a reality. I contacted Erin (who was the travel advisor for the trip) to make the arrangements. It was that easy. All the planning had been done for us. The only decision was which suite to go with. I booked the Royal Mayan suite.
But before we go further, there are rules.
The Grand Palladium Mayan Riviera complex is stunning. It consists of 5 different resorts hosting 6 pools, 9 thematic restaurants, buffets, lounges, various activities and of course, The Spa and Wellness Center. In addition, as guests of the exclusive Royal Suites Yucatan by Palladium, we enjoyed a private pool (pictured below), private beach, unlimited access to the Spa and a private restaurant, El Jardin.
The group met each morning (totally optional) at 7:30 for a walk or a run.
After our walk (or run) we would meet at 8:30 at the Spa and Wellness center (again optional) for a session of Pilates. In addition to traditional Pilates we would do Essentrics, Fascial Release, Circuit Work, even Piloxing. The studio we were in is surrounded by tropical foliage with rock walls. Amazing! Later in the day, around 4:30 pm, we would meet again at the Spa studio for another Pilates class. One of the Pilates highlights was Pilates at Sunrise at the seaside pool (pictured below). Talk about a bucket list moment!!
After the morning session of Pilates the day was ours to spend as we wished. Between the beach, pools, buffets, water activities, games, spa services and excursions the days are filled with fun and relaxing opportunities. One of my favorite personal moments was getting on a Segway for the first time. Rule #2 – make sure you are getting 5-6 square meals a day (plus snacks). You’ll need your strength to get from the Buffet to Pilates to the pool.
From there, back to the room for a shower, and then off to dinner at any one of the 9 thematic restaurants. We met as a group on three of the nights. New friends, exquisite food and lots of laughs!! After that, the only decision to make was what exciting show to see. Rule #3 – if you are rocking it out at the one of the spectacular shows or the disco, do not make an early night of it. Party on!!
The 2015 Lead Pilates Retreat in Paradise was an incredible experience. Great Pilates with great people at a great resort!! If there is one thing you do for yourself this year, make it this Retreat. You will definitely Love the Life you Lead!!
