What is Occupational Therapy?

What is Occupational Therapy (OT)?

Occupational therapy enables individuals in getting back into their daily function and routine by providing appropriate treatment and adaptive tools. It involves assessment and treatment of individuals experiencing barriers that are affecting their physical, social, cognitive, and mental health.

What can I expect from Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy assists individuals in getting back to their daily activities no matter if you’re recovering from an illness, a work accident, normal aging, or just daily stressors. OTs assist by finding the best treatment plan that is tailored to you and your recovery needs. We are able to provide support to people of all ages to develop the daily functions that they need in order to participate in their own life. OT can be provided in all sorts of settings such as in clinic, homes, schools, workplace, and wherever you do your activities of daily living.

Is Occupational Therapy covered by insurance?

Did you know that many major insurance companies such as Great West Life and Blue cross covers OT services? Even though it might not be listed on your coverage plan, many insurance companies will still cover them. Many companies don’t list OT services due to OT’s very broad scope of practice. However, if you are ever curious if your insurance plan covers it, please give them a call and ask. We would be glad to assist you in any way we can.
